Saturday 25th February, Joni Boyd & Saoirse Nash + open-mike! at the Moon!

This Saturday 25th February we have wonderful poets Joni Boyd + Saoirse Nash + open-mike.

Joni Boyd AKA Checkout Chick is a poet, community organiser and community broadcaster based on Noongar Boodja.

Active since 2012, she has put together a huge variety of poetry and music shows around town like Dirtymouth, Spoken Word Perth, Sound Paper and Jugular. She currently co-hosts the monthly Perth Slam at the Rosemount Hotel and presents Indymedia; RTRFM's activist citizen journalist program and Burn The Airwaves; the punk show.

Saturday 18th February, Cath Drake (UK), Karen Louise + open-mike at The Moon, on Zoom!

This Saturday 18th February we have wonderful poets Cath Drake (UK) + Karen Louise + open-mike.

Cath Drake is from Perth, and now lives in London, UK.  This is the Aussie launch (somewhat belated due to Covid) of The Shaking City (Seren Books), highly commended in the UK Forward Prize and longlisted in international Laurel Prize, followed 'Sleeping with Rivers', a Poetry Book Society choice & winner of the Seren/Mslexia pamphlet prize.

Saturday 11th February, John Keats special + open-mike!, at The Moon, on Zoom

Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 11th February 2023, 2pm-4pm has a special feature,   

                  JOHN KEATS – his life, poetry and controversy,  presented by Linda Anderson and Elio Novello, + open-mike at The Moon, on Zoom.

John Keats died young (25 years old) before truly reaching his peak as a poet. 

We will explore his life, his study to be a surgeon, his poetry, its savage criticism, his criticism of others’ poetry, his love life, and his death.

Saturday 4th February, Mega Open-mike Event, at The Moon, on Zoom!

Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 4th February 2023 has its first Open-mike Event for the year at The Moon, on Zoom.

Perth Poetry Club holds Mega Open-mike events quarterly as an opportunity for every open-miker to be a feature with 5 minutes (maximum) of performance time. Best to prepare your performance. Try something different, experimental. Edit and refresh your poems. Hone your performance skills. Past events have been memorable for the quality of the poetry and performances.

Saturday 28th January, Vivienne Glance + open-mike!

This Saturday 28th January we have our third Moon Zoom for 2023 with Vivienne Glance + open-mike.

Vivienne Glance is a passionate environmentalist and activist, brining art and activism together through her creative practice.

Vivienne’s poetry publications are The Softness of Water (Sunline Press), and A Simple Rain (Lethologica Press).  Other poems feature in journals and anthologies, including Westerly, Mascara Review, Blue Dog, Text, and Indian Literature.

Saturday 21st January, Aaron Tuckey + open-mike at The Moon, on Zoom!

This Saturday 21st January we have our second Moon Zoom for 2023 with Aaron Tuckey (visiting from Sweden) + open-mike.

Born in Mandurah, Western Australia, and trained as a musician from a young age, Aaron Tuckey became an accidental poet in 2013 when he found himself without an instrument and in urgent need of a creative outlet.  His interest in poetry flourished over the subsequent years and he self-published his first anthology in 2016, The Long Winter.
