This Saturday 20th November we have the launch of Brushstrokes II, Ros Spencer Poetry Contest Anthology 2020-21 + open-mike at the Moon and on Zoom.

Launch speech by Allan Padgett, readings by Natalie D-Napoleon, Geoff Spencer (Jenny de Garis), Gary Colombo de Piazzi, SoulReserve, Coral Carter, Kevin Gillam, Damen O’Brien, and Laura Jan Shore, plus open-mike.

Brushstrokes II is an anthology of selected poems from entrants in the 2020 – 2021 Ros Spencer poetry contests.

Saturday 13th November, JR Grogan (NSW) + Matt Loeb + open-mike, at the Moon Cafe, on Zoom!

This Saturday 13th November we have JR Grogan (NSW) + Matt Loeb (Canada, now Perth) + open-mike at the Moon and on Zoom.

John Robert Grogan (JR) is an Irish-Australian poet, who plays tradesperson by day and has been based in Sydney, Australia for sixteen years.  Childhood in the Wicklow mountains in Ireland, time in the Mediterranean and his Australian wanderings, cultivated a curiosity and love for the natural world, and the connectivity of all things.

Saturday 23rd October, Mega Open-mike at the Moon and Zoom!

This Saturday 23rd October we have a Mega Open-mike event at the Moon and on Zoom.

Perth Poetry Club holds Mega Open-Mikes quarterly as an opportunity for every open-miker to be a feature with 5 minutes (maximum) of performance time.

Best to prepare your performance.  Try something different, experimental.  Edit and refresh your poems.  Hone your performance skills.

Past events have been memorable for the quality of the poetry and performances.

Saturday 16th October, Daragh Byrne + open-mike! at the Moon and on Zoom

This Saturday 16th October we have wonderful poet Daragh Byrne (NSW) + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Daragh Byrne is an Irish poet living and writing on Gadigal land (Sydney).  He is widely published in journals and anthologies in Australia and Ireland, including Westerly, Crossways Literary Magazine, The Blue Nib, The Honest Ulsterman, Backstory and Live Encounters. He has won prizes or been commended in numerous competitions, recently being awarded Highly Commended in the Winchester Poetry Prize.

Saturday 9th October, Michael Drysdale + William Shakespeare + open-mike! at the Moon, on Zoom

This Saturday 9th October we have wonderful poet Michael Drysdale + the words of William Shakespeare + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Michael Drysdale studied acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts from 2009-2011. During his time at the academy he performed in Hamlet, Macbeth and a Shakespeare Anthology called Blood will Have Blood in which he performed an Iago soliloquy from the play Othello.

Saturday 25th September, Chris Palazzolo + open-mike, at the Moon, on Zoom!

This Saturday 25th September we have wonderful poet Chris Palazzolo + Grand Final special + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Chris Palazzolo is a novelist, poet, essayist, publisher and editor who’s been in and out of the Perth writing scene for a quarter of a century.  Currently he is out, residing in the East Kimberley.  There he continues to write novels, poetry, essays, to publish and edit…  Chris will be appearing live at the Moon.
