This Saturday (18th June 2016) is our Mega Open-Mike Event, where everyone is a feature. Perth Poetry Club holds these every quarter, as an opportunity for every open-miker to be a feature with 5 minutes (maximum) of performance time.
This week Perth Poetry Club has a wonderful feature, Danijela Kambaskovic.
In an exciting new initiative Well Versed, which has concentrated for four years on public performances of the works of established traditional writers, has now invited the authors of recent prize-winning verse to join them in a celebration of W.A. Poets on W.A. Day 2016.
Bill Jenkins (aka Bill/Dr Bill and various) is a psychologist and poet. First published as a poet in 1967, Bill has a chequered and anonymous history, coming out of the poetic closet only recently. His subject matter is life and he understands poetry as an active and therapeutic engagement with existence. As academic, consultant and volunteer Bill has worked largely with those approaching death through the hospice movement, and with children recovering from cancer. Currently his ‘work’ is limited to hanging out occasionally with the homeless.

Join us at Centre for Stories, 100 Aberdeen Street, Northbridge on Sunday June 12 at 3:00pm for an afternoon of poetry, song and art exploring Northbridge’s swampy past; and how that past has influenced Perth as we know it today.
The event will feature performances by poets Nandi Chinna, S J Finch and Renee Pettitt-Schipp, and artist and musician Mei Saraswati.

This Saturday 21st May 2016, we have two great poets featuring at Perth Poetry Club.
Connor Weightman is a Perth-based writer, still. His poetry has been published in such admirable publications as Westerly, Cordite, Writ Review and RECOIL. He is a current co-word curator of the quarterly spoken word event, Ships in the Night. When he is not writing, he can sometimes be found pulling espresso in Perth's business districts.
USA poet, nonfiction writer and teacher of creative writing, Diane Thiel, is giving a free public reading at ECU Mount Lawley campus on Wed 18 May, 12.30-1.10pm. The event will take place in Spectrum Gallery, building 3, ground floor, located near the Grindhouse Cafe. It will be followed by a light lunch in the undercover area directly outside the Gallery, concluding at 1.30pm. All welcome.
In the Gallery at that time will also be the work of two wonderful young artists, Vanessa Wallace and Laura Williams.
This Saturday at the Moon café we have a great feature poet (Allan Padgett) and poetry from one of the great poets of our times (Dylan Thomas).
Allan Padgett (pictured left) is a WA poet who performs regularly at Perth Poetry Club. He has been published in Creatrix, Uneven Floor, Creative Connections, Regime, Rochford Street Review, Plumwood Mountain and Poetic Visions, and has read his poems on 89.7 Twin Cities FM and RTR FM 92.1.
