Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 10th October 2026, 2pm-4pm, has wonderful poets
Sia Kozlowski, Aunty Tricia & Ananda Barton + open-mike
at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge & on ZOOM.

Based in Perth, Sia Kozlowski moves between the structured world of corporate work and the openness of poetry.

Sia’s poetry emerges from a life lived across many worlds, from completing five university degrees to training in shamanic and energy-healing traditions.

Her deeper education lies in the unseen. Sensitive to energy since childhood, she writes as an observer and a bridge, noting the subtle ways we are connected, even when we feel worlds apart. Her approach is shaped by a deep respect for the inner landscapes people carry.

Sia brings an honest, rhythmic voice to the stage, leaving space for audiences to reconnect with their own thoughts.

Aunty Tricia Flynn-Scrutton is a bush kid from the Northern Territory who grew up outside Bachelor, on the 58 Mile Siding site, which sadly no longer exists. A railway brat Aunty Tricia comes from a long line of NT railway workers, and was one of five children.

In 1964 Tricia's mother died, two years later her father learnt that the Native Welfare were planning to take his children. With the help of Aboriginal and white friends the family escaped to Sydney. Life in Sydney was a big culture shock, not least going from a school of 100 students to a big city high school.

In 1973 Tricia returned to the NT, just in time for Cyclone Tracey. She, her father and their dog survived by sheltering under the kitchen table.

Since then, Aunty Tricia has had an adventurous life, visiting Timor Leste, just before the Indonesian invasion, visiting and living in every Australian state.

She has lived in Boorloo/ Perth since 1986. Now a respected Elder in the City of Stirling, Aunty Tricia is an active member of the local reconciliation action group. She also participates in Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation and Nalardjukn Domestic Violence Service.

Ananda Barton is a regular at PPC, to which he introduced Aunty Tricia. Born on Whadjuk Boodja Ananda grew up in Manjimup, on Bibbulmun Boodja, spending all his life on Noongar land.

Ananda recently discovered the Jindyworobak movement, which sparked an interest in Indigenous history and culture. This has included participating in Noongar singing with Gina Williams, a well-known member of the Noongar community. Thanks to Aunty Tricia's grandparents featuring, as characters, in Xavier Herbert's novel 'Capricornia' Ananda is within four degrees of separation from the 'Jindys.'

He and Aunty Tricia recently travelled to York, in Tricia's car, Raven, in search of Jindyworobak poetry. Thanks to an excellent local second hand bookstore their quest was successful.
