Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 1st August 2026, 2pm-4pm,
has wonderful poets Kate Barrett-Lennard & Kimberley Zeneth + open-mike
at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge & on ZOOM.
Kate Barrett-Lennard is practitioner-author-poet. She works privately, in the field of trauma and family therapy. Her first book ‘Pathways Beyond Crime and Trauma’ utilises poetry extensively to evoke empathic connection to the original trauma behind criminal behaviour. Her new book, ‘Mystical Writings’ is a collation of 8 categories of verse; a diverse cross section that speaks to a life lived with depth and presence over 40 years of writing. Her poems are not decorations, they are encounters-invitations to see what is actually there, with its depth and meaning.
Dr Conlan says “What I find most striking about Kate’s work is its refusal to pretence. There are no performances here- no flying without wings- just presence to trees, to beloved ones, to the invitation’s life offers without asking permission, to grief that arrives, and won’t be dismissed, to the people whose stories need holding.”
“As both poet and counsellor Kate knows what many spiritual teachers forget- transformation happens not by grand revelations but simply by Presence to what IS. Her work moves between the visible the invisible ( Nature, Beloved, Spirit, Grace). Come and enjoy a short presentation of her work.
Kimberley Zeneth has 60 poems published in journals, books, parking-meters, in stone & on skin. Kim grew up in Alice Springs and has lived in America and England. She has 4 degrees including a master Arts in Creative Writing. She’s had 3 writing fellowships at Varuna.
Kim’s book of poems Awake During Anaesthetic was published in 2009. Kim works as a therapist & swims in the sea with her twin daughters at Fremantle, Western Australia.
