Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poets Ellie Fisher & James Stanwix
this Saturday 16th August, 2pm-4pm, at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge and on ZOOM.
Ellie Fisher (she/they) is a 24-year-old writer, editor, and doctoral student. Her creative work has appeared in Westerly Magazine, Pulch Mag, Gems zine, Night Parrot Press and Swim Meet Lit Mag, amongst others. They are a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at The University of Western Australia. Ellie’s thesis research centres on embodiment, feminism, and textural intimacy, asking how the lyric essay and lyric diary—both forms of hybrid non-fiction—can mediate and extend the sensuous and affective connections between bodies and texts. Ellie has performed at the 2021 Kwoorabup Writers Festival and at Hem Poetics. She has held editorial roles at Pelican Magazine, Pulch Mag, and Damsel Mag, and was selected to be a part of Express Media’s Toolkits (Non-Fiction) Program this year. They currently split their time between Kinjarling (Albany) and Boorloo (Perth).
James Stanwix (he/they) is a writer/baker/photographer based in Walyalup. They have been published in Pulch, Cordite, Westerly and elsewhere. They run a DLGSC-funded monthly poetry night called 'Hem Poetics' and are interning later this year with Red Room Poetry, working with them on projects such as 'Poem Forest'. He has just completed an honours in creative writing at UWA that included a longform prose poem and scattered double exposed images of a personally-nostalgic trail in the Perth Hills.
