This Saturday 25th June 2016, we have two great features by name of Becky Monks and Geoff Spencer.
Becky Monks is a 21-year-old performance poet and postgraduate Medical student at UWA, with a degree in German and 40 grand’s worth of HECS debt. Becky is a member of the Said Poets’ Society and helps to run spoken word workshops in Perth high schools. She is also a regular performer at Spoken Word Perth and Perth Slam.
Geoff Spencer is very simply: a Perth Boy, born in the 40s, schooled in the 50s, married late 60s, two children early 70s, got a promotion mid-80s, just worked through the 90s, retired in the 00s (‘Noughties’), challenged greatly in the 10s (‘Tenzies’) - then, with help, rediscovered language.
His Loves:- My Family, Karri Forests, Red-tailed and Carnaby Cockatoos, Sunflowers, Snorkelling, Kayaking, Night Skies, Beethoven, Travelling, Vincent van Gogh, Tangents and being Obtuse. Oh! and the Special People at “The Moon”.
His Philosophy - “I was put on this Earth to achieve many things. At the moment, I’m so far behind . . I’m never going to die” - {Lots to Learn!}
Join us to hear Becky and Geoff this Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm at the Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge. Open-mike as always.
