Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 23rd April has wonderful poets Yvonne Patterson & Lola McDowell + open-mike, via ZOOM and at THE MOON CAFÉ.
Yvonne Patterson is NZ born, lives in Perth and enjoys writing poetry and the company of writing communities after a career in psychology and policy in human services. She is the chair of the Out of the Asylum Writers Group and is in the Emerging Writers Program through WA Poets this year.
Her poetry is published in Creatrix and Writers Resist and anthologies including Grieve and Not Very Quiet and has been commended in the 2018 Tom Collins and highly commended in the 2021 Spilt Ink and 2021 Creatrix prizes.
Her poetry draws on social and political issues, including how we as humans, living within social and political contexts, relate to each other and to our environment and the ethical choices that affect these relationships.
Lola McDowell nee Kickett is still new to writing poetry. She enjoys it because it is like therapy as it makes her feel better. She writes about experiences in life and work. She has had some published and would love to write a book of her own some day.
