Saturday 5th February, Samantha Melia + Karine Suares + open-mike!

Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 5th February has wonderful poets Samantha Melia + Karine Suares + open-mike at the Moon Cafe.

Samantha Melia, originally from Dublin, Ireland studied psychology at the University of Ulster.  After graduation, she went traveling and settled in the Bronx, NYC for ten years.  She relocated to Perth, Western Australia, where she currently lives with her Irish husband and two daughters Realtin and Regan Molly.

Samantha has always had a deep passion and love for the written word, especially poetry. She has recently completed her first collection of poetry Love and Loss which is available today.  She writes about her travels, childhood, birth, death, self-discovery and experiences that shape the conscious and subconscious mind.  She also produces her poetry with images on canvas.  Samantha was a feature poet in the Perth Poetry Festival 2019, she works with WAPI, she is the coordinator of the 2022 Perth Poetry Festival, and is currently working on her Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling from ECU.

Karine Suares writes poetry and fiction both in English and French.  She was born in Normandy from a Madagascan mother and a French father.

Poetry was an important component of her school years, during which she began developing an addictive pleasure for words and paper.  She has vivid memories of her mother proudly hanging on the wall one of the first poems she wrote in year 3.

Suares earned a Law degree and a Master of Communication & Publicity in France, as well as an MBA from Edith Cowan University, Perth.  She has held various community-oriented roles in the private and public sectors, in Boorloo (Perth) where she resides with her little family.  When not in the office or running after her sons, Karine devotes her time to reading and her writing projects.  She draws her inspiration from the cultural, social and literary diversity in which she has always been immersed.

Please join us to celebrate poetry this Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm.
