Saturday 23rd of April, Rachael Petridis, Francesca Meehan and William Shakespeare!

Rachael Petridis (pictured) is a Fremantle-based poet, and is a founding member of the Fremantle writing group OOTA.  In 2009 Rachael won a residency with Varuna Longlines Australian Poetry Centre Program.  Her work is widely published in journals and a range of anthologies including The Attitude of Cups (MPU), Southern Sun, Aegean Light (Arcadia), Lines in the Sand (FAWWA), Indigo, Australian Poetry Members Anthology (Australian Poetry 2013), JukeBox (Out of the Asylum Inc). Love Poetry Anthology (Inkerman & Blunt) 2013, and Australian Poetry Journal (2014).

Her collection Sundecked (Australian Poetry Centre) was commended in the Anne Elder Award.

Francesca Meehan (pictured) has been enamoured of words for as long as she can remember.  She has had limited opportunity to read her work, but she remembers happily and confidently doing so ''in another life'', before having a family, dodging some of life's ''curved balls'', and riding others.... causing her to become rather more reserved.  Her reading this week is a new beginning

In 2013, on a whim, Francesca emailed a poem to a friend (Award winning playwright, actor, director, Tiffany Barton) who then began offering weekly ''Passionate Writing Classes''.  These occurred on and off over the last two or three years and Francesca attended almost every one.  Those classes having now finished, she of late writes with friends once a month as well as fairly regularly at a class with Jane Cornes.  Although she considers herself very much a novice-poet, she is delighted to be able to share some of her writing with us this Saturday.

William Shakespeare (pictured) is possibly the greatest ever playwright, poet and wordsmith in the English language.  William has been quiet over the last 400 years but has decided to adorn the Perth Poetry Club by inviting others to read as many of his words in Open-mike.

Please join Rachael Petridis, Francesca Meehan, and Bill Shakespeare Open-mike for an entertaining Saturday afternoon of poetry, 2pm – 4pm, at the Moon Café 323 William Street Northbridge.   Open-mike as always.
