Perth Poetry Club this Saturday 5th February has wonderful poets Samantha Melia + Karine Suares + open-mike at the Moon Cafe. 

Samantha Melia, originally from Dublin, Ireland studied psychology at the University of Ulster.  After graduation, she went traveling and settled in the Bronx, NYC for ten years.  She relocated to Perth, Western Australia, where she currently lives with her Irish husband and two daughters Realtin and Regan Molly.

Saturday 29th January, Mega Open-mike at the Moon!

This Saturday 29th January we have a Mega Open-mike event at the Moon Cafe.

Perth Poetry Club holds Mega Open-Mikes quarterly as an opportunity for every open-miker to be a feature with 5 minutes (maximum) of performance time.  Best to prepare your performance.  Try something different, experimental.  Edit and refresh your poems.  Hone your performance skills.  Past events have been memorable for the quality of the poetry and performances.

Please join us to celebrate poetry this Saturday afternoon 2pm - 4pm.

Saturday, 22nd January Ben Mason + open-mike!

This Saturday 22nd January we have Ben Mason and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club, at THE MOON CAFÉ.

Ben Mason BIO:

Ben’s short fiction has been performed, awarded, and published, including Westerly and Overland (both upcoming).  Home Invasion — his collection of short fiction — was long-listed for the 2019 Fogarty Award.

For spoken word he finished 3rd in the 2019 WA leg of the Australian Poetry Slam State Final, won the Margaret River Writers Festival Slam, and has performed in Fringe and Festival shows through Western Australia.

Thank you to our 1,900+ audience, 860 open-mikers, and 60 features during the year, who helped deliver over 2,200 poems

Saturday 4th December, The Blak Ink Poetry Competition + open-mike, at the Moon on Zoom!

This Saturday 4th December we have WAPI’s & ANTaR WA’s Blak Ink Poetry Competition and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club, VIA ZOOM and at THE MOON CAFÉ.

The Blak Ink Poetry Competition is supported by ANTaR WA – its theme is Healing Country

The competition is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living anywhere in Australia who have not yet published a collection of poetry.
