Saturday 30th of July, Anne Norman and Joanna Alexandre!

Two great features again this week at Perth Poetry Club, Anne Norman and Joanna Alexandré.

Anne Norman is a shakuhachi player touring as a soloist and performing in collaboration with diverse artists.  Anne also writes poetry in response to the natural world, and brings it into her concerts and will bring this Perth Poetry Club this Saturday afternoon.  She has performed in Australia, Japan, America and Europe… and regularly tells her rhyming epic poems based on Japanese folk-tales to kids in schools across the country.  She recently recorded her eco-poems with original compositions. See https://pozible.com/project/beneath-the-surface

Anne is currently Artistic Director of Tunnel Number Five: a festival of Underground Music to be staged beneath Darwin in August.  She also is giving a recital of music and poems in Freo on the following Saturday evening at Blinco St Café.  So come first to Perth Poetry Club at The Moon Café Northbridge on this coming 30th July afternoon.

If you come to The Moon, you will also hear Joanna Alexandré.   Joanna is currently studying English literature in year 12 at Belridge secondary college.  She is an avid poetry fan, recently had a poem published in P3WA.  One of her favourite authors is Edgar Allan Poe.  She is passionate about sport - netball being a particular passion.  Joanna says “my poetry is inspired by the issues surrounding myself and the people I care about.  I was first introduced to Perth Poetry Club by my English Literature teacher.”  We like that recommendation and Joanna’s poetry has impressed.

See Anne Norman and Joanna Alexandré and be entertained at The Moon Café, 323 William Street Northbridge this Saturday afternoon 2pm-4pm.  Open-mike as always.

In the next two weeks we have:

6-Aug-16                  Matt Hetherington & Bill Dickie

13-Aug-16                  Perth Poetry Festival gig

 Open-mike as always
