Perth Poetry Club has wonderful Melissa Domiati & Áine Tyrrell (Eire) plus open-mike this Saturday 24th February, 2pm-4pm, at The Moon Café and on Zoom.
Melissa Domiati (nee Tapper) is a Fremantle-born author and educator with a passion for poetry, life stories & empowering others to share their authentic voices.
Melissa survived a near death experience, thanks to a Royal Flying Doctor rescue, that resulted in a year of learning to walk again, a pivotal time in reassessing her life’s direction. Her reflections, often expressed through writing, culminated in her poetry collection Flowers from the Farm.
Starting with a career in commerce, she discovered that she enjoyed words much more than numbers, refocusing her journey towards international education & writing, travelling to over 50 countries.
Melissa has been writing poetry since she was a small child, on anything she could get her hands on - her favourite being the smooth bark of the paperbark tree.
Her poetry has featured in numerous publications. Flowers from the Farm is her first solo collection of poetry now available on amazon in paperback and kindle formats.

Áine Tyrrell is an inspiring and thought-provoking multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and unmissable live act, she graces stages globally – from Woodford Folk Festival, to Shrewsbury Folk Festival in the UK to Clonakilty International Guitar Festival in Ireland, International Folk Alliance in the USA, and the coveted Splendour in the Grass.
In 2021, the significance of Áine’s impact was underscored when she was chosen to join the Irish President, Michael D O’Higgins, and his wife Sabine in a tribute celebrating the valour and artistry of Irish women. She was rightfully acknowledged as one of the top 10 musical creators by The Australian Newspaper in 2021 and acclaim has followed her from both Australian and Irish radio circuits with notable features on ABC Radio, RTE Radio, Double J Radio, and BBC NI Music. Her chart-topping presence on Ireland’s RTE’s Independent Music Charts speaks volumes about her resonance in the musical landscape.
