Saturday 6th May, Shae O'Reilly, Elio Novello + open-mike, at The Moon, on Zoom!

Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poets Shae O’Reilly & Elio Novello + open-mike this Saturday 6th May, 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café and on ZOOM.

Shae O’Reilly is a multidisciplinary artist whose first love will always be writing. Shae is partial to “punk poetry” and telling it like it is.  As far as inspiration goes, she can’t go past Kae Tempest, adores the bravery and fierceness of Sinead O’Connor and always returns to that vile, wonderful man Bukowski.

Shae feels strongly about providing a voice for the disadvantaged of our society and believes that we’d be much better off blowing up our televisions than each other.  Her poetry is an extension of her love of Nature and Art. Shae enjoys the company of those who are peaceful, kind and prone to thinking.

Elio Novello fell into poetry when he came across his older brother’s secondary school poetry books whilst still in primary school.  His interest was further developed when in Year 8, a relief English class was taken by History teacher, Charlie Hickey, from California, who proceeded to read Robert Frost poetry all lesson.

Elio didn’t write poetry until he was in his 50s, and it invariably revolves around politics, maths/physics, environmental and social issues, and religion.  God is a good sparring partner.  His MC role at the Club encourages him to read other people’s poetry.

Don’t miss this Saturday, 6th May 2023, 2pm to 4pm Perth Aus WST (GMT+8hrs).
