Saturday 18th March, Jackson & Tineke Van der Eecken + open-mike, at The Moon & Zoom!

Perth Poetry Club has wonderful poets Jackson & Tineke Van der Eecken + open-mike this Saturday 18th March 2pm-4pm at The Moon Café and on ZOOM

Poet and writer Jackson was born in Cumbria, England.  After many years in Western Australia, she moved to the Far North of New Zealand in early 2021 to be near her elderly father.  She works online, mainly as an academic editor.  However, she prefers editing poetry and recently edited Tineke Van der Eecken's and Annette Mullumby's first full-length collections.  She also reviews poetry books occasionally, mainly for Westerly.  Jackson's four full-length collections include A coat of ashes (Recent Work Press 2019) and The emptied bridge (Mulla Mulla Press 2019).

Her work has appeared in many journals and anthologies, notably the Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry.  Her awards include the Ros Spencer Poetry Prize.  In 2018 she completed her PhD in Writing at Edith Cowan University. From 2013 to 2018 she edited the online poetry journal Uneven Floor.  In 2009 she instigated Perth Poetry Club, which she coordinated until 2012.  Jackson's online home is thepoetjackson.com.

Tineke Van der Eecken has Flemish-Australian multilingual heritage.  She is much-travelled and writes about experiences in places damaged by colonial history.  Her memoir Traverse (Wild Weeds Press 2018) was shortlisted for the 2016 TAG Hungerford Award and follows Café d'Afrique (Tineke Creations 2012).  Her poems appeared in Grieve, The Lake, othersideofhope, Tamba and other journals.  Her collection ‘A Place To Land’ was published by Mulla Mulla Press late 2022.

The gig will also be a celebration of Tineke’s A Place to Land that Jackson edited and Coral Carter published.  The book was launched last year but both Jackson and Coral were away for that launch so this is a way of honouring them and their contribution.

Don’t miss this Saturday, 18th March 2023, 2pm to 4pm Perth Aus WST (GMT+8hrs).
