Saturday 5th June, Ruari Jack Hughes + Bronwyn Mory + open-mike! at the Moon, on Zoom

This Saturday 5th June 2pm-4pm we have wonderful poets Ruari Jack Hughes + Bronwyn Mory + open-mike at the Moon Café and on Zoom.

Ruari Jack Hughes was born in Sydney. His father suffered a terrible accident when Ruari was still a small boy.  This event caused much family disruption and his parents’ subsequent separation.  From his early teens he travelled extensively in Australia. He spent most of the sixties in New Zealand and later did development aid work for four years in Zimbabwe.

Ruari Jack has published poems and short stories in Australia, NZ, USA, UK, Israel, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Italy (including works republished in Italian).  His writing has been awarded prizes, commendations, and scholarships and also inclusion in several anthologies.  In 2012, he published Memories, a book-length collection of poetry combined with reproductions of paintings by Janet Yates (too early deceased) as a catalogue for a solo exhibition of Janet’s work.  The book subsequently sold as a stand-alone volume.

His current project is a poem cycle titled Townsend, an adaptation of his novella of the same name.  Ruari Jack writes in a wide range of styles, forms and genres to explore issues of memory, gender, the accidental & sudden change, also love & loss.  He lives in Fremantle with a wonderful woman, his wife, Rosemary Spark.

Bronwyn Mory is a creative writer who loves performing.  She writes from the heart and writes what the world needs to hear.  In her work, she weaves stories about nature, love, and spirituality.  She adores glitter, unicorns and anything pink.  She writes in Walayup in a tiny home surrounded by a tropical Balinese garden.  Come along for the ride and hear what she has to say; she’ll take you away to some magical places to ride, hide and play.  You can find Bronwyn on Instagram at @bron_writes.
