Saturday 30th November, Rita Tognini and Catherine Noske!

This Saturday 30th November we have wonderful poets Rita Tognini & Catherine Noske, plus open-mike.

Rita Tognini writes poetry and short fiction that explores the relationship of language, landscape and identity, the intersection of the personal and political, and the consolations and constrictions of family ties. Her work has won prizes and been published locally, nationally and internationally. In 2018, Rita was selected for the Four Centres Emerging Writer Program and is working on short fiction and poetry collections.

Catherine Noske is a creative writer, literary editor and award-winning teacher. Her work has involved looking closely at the way we use words to create ideas of Australia, focusing on anything from social concepts such as 'nation', to physical places such as the collection of poetry in the new Optus Stadium. Catherine is editor of Westerly magazine and lectures in English and creative writing within the UWA School of Humanities (PhD in Creative Writing, Monash).

Catherine has been a committee member for the Australian Short Story Festival, a judge of the WA Premier’s Book Prize, and is a board member for writingWA, and in 2016, for A Maze of Story. She has twice been awarded the Elyne Mitchell Prize for Rural Women Writers, and her 2015 manuscript, The Call of Salt (a novel), was awarded a Varuna fellowship and shortlisted for the 2015 Dorothy Hewett Award.
