This Saturday 7th September we have wonderful local poets, Lucy Czerwiec, Lucy Dougan, Kevin Gillam, Fran Graham, Mardi May, Carol Millner, Emily J Smith, Rashida Murphy, Zan Ross and Julie Watts reading their poems from The Sky Falls Down: An Anthology of Loss, at Perth Poetry Club. We have usual open-mike as well.
The Sky Falls Down: An Anthology of Loss explores the landscape of loss and was published by Ginninderra Press earlier this year. Editors Terry Whitebeach & Gina Mercer describe the work:“In this compelling collection, eighty-nine writers traverse their particular territory of loss and bring back travellers’ tales. Their skilfully crafted accounts are insightful, inspiring, amusing, heart-breaking, resilient and, above all, damn good reading and listening to. Inspiring writing by asylum seekers, bereft parents, refugees, bushfire survivors and others who know loss. “
The reading of poems from The Sky Falls Down also is a good lead-in and reminder of national R U OK? Day, later in the week (Thursday 12th Sept).
