Saturday 15th June, Kelly Van Nelson!

This Saturday 15th June 2019 we have the wonderful poet, Kelly Van Nelson and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.

Kelly Van Nelson is an author and poet from England's North East who lived in Newcastle, Edinburgh, London, and Cape Town before immigrating to Australia. Her poems, short stories, and non-fiction articles have featured in UK, USA and Australian publications including Serenity Press, Short Story Society, United Press, Between These Shores Books, Fiction War Magazine, Wolvesburrow Productions, Kidspot, Now, Swan Magazine and Ymag). She is represented by The Newman Literary Agency.

Graffiti Lane, her powerful debut poetry collection, explores real-life issues and the power of resilience. It reached #1 Hot New Releases and #2 Poetry Bestsellers status on Amazon UK. As well as success as a poet, Kelly has received multiple accolades for her manuscript, The Pinstripe Prisoner, which placed third in the Yeovil Literary Prize, shortlisted in the Wales PENfro first chapter competition, and longlisted in the Exeter Novel Prize. In 2018 she was awarded an emerging writers’ First Edition Fellowship through Katharine Susannah Pritchard Writers’ Centre, funded by the Western Australian Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries and Lotterywest.

Kelly is also the mum of two teenagers, wife of her soulmate of over two decades and the managing director on the executive board of a global organisation. In short, she is a juggler.
