Saturday 4th May, Jackson + launch of her "A coat of ashes"!

This Saturday 4th May we have the launch of Jackson’s new book “A coat of ashes” and open-mike at Perth Poetry Club.

Jackson’s “A coat of ashes” is a landmark book, traversing science and spirituality, philosophy and matter.  Equally importantly it is a great read.

Jackson was born in Cumbria, England, and is officially based in Western Australia.  She has written poetry since childhood, and “A coat of ashes” is her third book.  Her work has appeared in many reputable and disreputable journals and in various anthologies, notably the Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry.  In 2009 she instigated Perth Poetry Club.  In 2018 she completed her PhD in Writing at Edith Cowan University, winning the University Research Medal, the Arts and Humanities Research Medal and the Magdalena Prize for Feminist Research.

Jackson has two adult children: visual artist Sam Huxtable and photographer Callan Huxtable.  She has worked as a computer programmer, a charity telemarketer, a voluntary breastfeeding counsellor and an unprofitably self-employed editor and writing teacher.  She is currently teaching the English language in China.

Her Website is thepoetjackson.com

Her new book “a coat of ashes” will be launched by Annamaria Weldon, with readings by Jackson (recorded from China), Sanna Peden and Elio Novello.

MC is Christine Della Vedova. The book will be on sale (Josephine Clarke).  Pizzas put on after the gig.  There will be another extra special treat as part of the gig.

Remember we will have our usual open mike as well.
