Saturday 4th of November, Rose Lucas (VIC), Mitchell Thompson and Chase Houghton!

This Saturday, it’s Rose Lucas (VIC), Mitchell Thompson + Chase Houghton  as our features on 4th November 2017 at Perth Poetry Club.

Rose Lucas is a Melbourne poet and academic.  Her first collection , Even in the Dark (UWAP 2013) won the Mary Gilmore prize.  Her second collection, Unexpected Clearing (UWAP) was published in 2016. She is currently completing her third collection, At the Point of Seeing. She will be in Perth to co-host a doctoral Writing Retreat with ECU.

Mitchell Thompson is a skillful craftsman of story and image, whose deeply earnest philosophy explores the profoundly human with a dark romantic satirism; mythic pastoral cynicism; and a dreamscape of wounded optimism. His poetry shares his experiences, processes, and perceptive insights, as he uses a knowledge of art, history, and culture to navigate themes of desire, identity, and legacy. The result is an engaging confession that aims to delight and ignite the passions of his audience - the only tribe his nomadic soul seems to know.

Chase Houghton is a Perth-born non-binary poet who is the State Youth Poetry Slam Champion for 2017, came second in the 2017 By Me International Poetry Competition for Under 20s, has featured several times at Spoken Word Perth events and is being published in several upcoming poetry collections. Their poetry has been described as being sharp words from a soft voice.
