This Saturday, it’s Toby Marks and Cam Knight as our features, 14th October 2017 at Perth Poetry Club.
Toby Marks is one of Australia's leading forgotten poets. Unknown even to his peers and kin. He lacks all recognition in Australian Literature. His poetry, although not academic, tries to dip into the hermetic currents of an ocean lost in a world we can only perceive once standing on the edge of the abyss. Sometimes strikingly shit and sometimes passable, his poetry has been blowing away since 2013.
Cameron Knight is among one of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists and performers. After flunking out of National Art School (SYD), Knight went on to study at Murdoch University (WA) completing a Bachelors in English and Creative Arts.
Currently based in Melbourne he is busy milking the creative teat the city has to offer, both organizing and participating in a stream of art exhibitions and events; curator at Soma Gallery, music events, art battles, poetic publications, festivals, and spoken word. Knight also managed and created the infamous Exit Strategy Studios – a creative warehouse based at a historic Brunswick warehouse. The community arts hub centred on providing a professional and inclusive space for exhibitions and community based events.
Cam Knight has also made his mark on the Perth creative scene. Well known for his collaborations in a number groups, festivals and artists such as Camp Doogs Festival, Indifference Publications (UK/WA), Splodge (independent artist), Fringe, Un-named Collective, Avenue magazine and countless other events and exhibitions.
Artist, poet, musician and overall creative scatterbrain, Knights determination to help the community and local arts industries strive has no bounds. His call of passion for cultural revolution through splatters of paint and words will leave an impression, one way or another.
